With Billions of People Hooked on Social Media … It’s a GREAT Time to Become a Social Media Expert
I’m guessing you’ve noticed how the power, reach, and influence of social media keeps on growing.
Doesn’t matter whether you’re a politician, a celebrity, a business leader, or just a good friend to those around you … everyone depends on social media.
Truth be told, tens of millions of people check their social media feeds before they even get out of bed in the morning.
How about that for power?!
But people still ask me, “Nick, isn’t it too late to get into social media marketing? Aren’t there too many social media experts out there already?”
Absolutely not!
In fact, I believe the opposite to be true.
The massive and ongoing growth of social media has created extraordinary opportunities for writers and copywriters.

Something else a lot of people say to me goes something like this: “But Nick, the whole social media thing sounds so technical and fast-moving. I’m not a tech person. I could never handle that.”
No worries.
You don’t have to be a technical person. You don’t have to handle absolutely everything. Unless you really want to!
If you prefer, you can focus just on being an expert at social media writing … creating the updates, posts, and tweets sent every day.
And this is a skill you already have. And it’s a skill 99% of companies out there DON’T have.
What do I mean by that?
Well, I’m assuming you spend a little time on social media yourself.
You know how to write a post on Facebook, or to add a comment to a friend’s update. Or to add a comment on YouTube. Or to Like a tweet. Or upload a photo to Instagram. And so on.
In other words, you’ve developed an instinctive ability to interact with other people on social media. You know how to be social online.
Well … companies aren’t very good at that. They know how to pitch their latest sales and discounts through social media. They know how to use it as a marketing channel.

I like all the reasons for this writing. #1 for the reason that I already have some knowledge for adding comments to posts and know my way around the web. #2 for the access to all that follow my on social media. And #3, the monthly income for a few hours a day writing for my clients appeals to me mostly

I like #1 because I'm already writing posts. I also like #3 retainers are awesome. I'm writing a weekly blog for a company on a retainer and I would like to expand that to more clients. Social media and blogs both work well for retainer contracts.

Reason #3 is my hook...although all the reasons are compelling. I'm blown away at the stats of social media use for businesses and I never considered the engagement side of things, but the retainer fees are definitely attractive!

I'm a recent retiree looking forward to a nomadic lifestyle. My social media game is exactly ZERO. No FB, TWTR, Instagram, nothing. Never 'friended' or unfriended' or 'liked'. I'm not a Luddite, I just find the concept immensely narcissistic.
AND YET....I am absolutely committed to re-inventing myself following a career in law and financial planning. I love to write and think it would be sexy as hell to get paid to do it.
