Monday Morning Jumpstart –
How to Beat Self-Sabotage and Succeed
Starting up a paid writing career is a big life change – and, though it’s exciting, it can feel scary or uncomfortable in the beginning. Sometimes, in the interest of protecting ourselves from scary things, we engage in self-defeating behaviors that hold us back.
In today’s Monday Motivation for Writers session, AWAI Chief Success Officer, Ted Capshaw, and Director of Training, Jade Trueblood, ask you to look inward at your behaviors.
Are you doing anything to try to protect yourself that is only holding you back? Do you have self-defeating behaviors that aren’t serving you? What can you do instead?
Watch for a much-needed wake-up call and reminder to continue looking inward and examining our own behaviors.
Join us every Monday Morning for a boost of writing motivation, plus tips and strategies to make sure you're staying on track and moving towards your goals all year.

Generally speaking this can be a pretty deep well. I don't THINK I sabotage myself but then.... when I take on 2 projects at the same time and than am unable to enjoy either one because the push is on??? Hmmm I have learned tho to look at the glass half full and when I talk to someone who looks at it half empty, I run. My self sabotage is fragile and I don't want to go there. I stay away from the naysayers. That's the best protection in my world.

I realized today as I was listening to Ted and Jade that I dim down my expectations and dreams in favor of self protection. An honest evaluation of my self-defeating behaviours is a must for me ---- an ongoing must. Thanks Ted and Jade.
