How to Deal with Anger

Watch Video

If rejection or stalling in your progress as a writer immediately makes you feel angry … it’s worth exploring why you’re feeling anger – and which emotions are truly behind it. When you discover the truth about anger, it opens up the path to much faster success as a writer.

To be angry can make you stuck as a writer, and damage your relationships with clients, as well as your ability to be successful.

Anger also dampens your overall happiness and well-being as a person.

In today’s Monday Morning Jumpstart session, AWAI Chief Success Officer, Ted Capshaw, and Director of Training, Jade Trueblood, both admit to being “reformed angry people.”

Together, they dive into the feeling of anger – and ask us to explore what’s behind it.

Ted shares the common core emotions that usually trigger anger and gives some tips for getting past it, so you can freely move forward into your writing success.

Join us every Monday Morning for a boost of writing motivation, plus tips and strategies to make sure you're staying on track and moving towards your goals all year.

  1. I feel anger a lot. It is self-made and tiresome. Even though I believe my anger is justified, I take a deep breath and think “WIIFM” to be angry. The answer is “NOTHING” Looking in the mirror, facing the true culprit of my anger, I find that it comes from something inside me that I want or need and can’t attain and the thing or person that “made me angry” simply brought that to the forefront. What to do? Draft it out, come back in 2 days, rewrite or laugh it off and call it a day.

  2. Thanks. I needed that. Helped clear up a few things from last week.

  3. This was so important to me today (dealing with something like your example). Peeling back the feeling, I found I was sad, frustrated, and fearful. Anger, expressed online made me feel bigger than I really felt. Now, I'm much calmer and ready to dive back into the work. Thank you, Jade & Ted!
