I absolutely love to read to my kids. I’d say my favorite book right now for them is this book called, I Don’t Want to Be a Frog. What I love about it is there is no narrator. All the characters speak for themselves, so I get to do three different voices. It totally keeps me on my toes. My kids love it. I’m realizing it’s because I do the voices, just like I loved when my mom was reading to me. It was all about the characters, and she made them come to life. I feel like that’s why I love this book today, because I get to do that for my kids now.
There are so many classic children’s books … Goodnight Moon, Pat the Bunny, Love You Forever, The Cat in the Hat, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, to name a few.

I would love to write about my favorite childhood book(s), especially the ones that I've read to both of my children when they were young. I used to read to their classes for fun as well, and that helped cement my title of "cool mom" for a whopping year! I miss those days since both of my children are now young adults and their love of reading and storytelling have transferred to what they enjoy the most..Cosplay and Dungeons and Dragons. I have created two creative monsters! And I'm loving it!

When I was a little boy I lived in a room that was filled with books. All four walls from the floor till ceiling. We lived in a bigger house before but due to bad economic times, we had become pretty poor and had to move into a smaller house. My mom cherished books dearly and she didn't want to leave any of them behind so they were all stacked in my room. Every now and then I just randomly picked a book from a pile and read it. One day when I entered my room I noticed a book on the floor, it must have fallen from one of the book piles. The book was “Viy” by N. Gogol. I read it and from the very first page till the last the book just felt so alive. And as it was a folk horror story I slept for weeks with a knife under my pillow after that.

In TinTin Black Treasure, he travels with a submarine into the abyss of the underwater world, fighting the biggest water creature ever seen. In TinTin Tibet, he travels up the Everest, getting lost in avalanches… while in TinTin Picaros he discovers treasures in the Mayan ruins.
His dog Snowy, the pipe-smoking Captain Haddock were always with him in his adventures. Professor Calculus and the detective twins Thompson and Thomson also joined in different adventures.

There were so many stories I used to love as a kid, but the only thing that sticks to me right now is the Junie B. Jones series. I remember reading these books in the 5th (yes 5th) grade. Even though I was 10 or 11 at the time and Junie B. was 5 or 6, I still related to her in some way. She’s just your average kindergartener trying to figure things out, but she often gets herself into trouble, leading to hilarious situations. I remember in the first series called “Junie B. Jones and the Stupid Smelly Bus” where she tries to avoid riding the bus because it is “smelly”. So, she does something that gets her into trouble, but I’m not going to say what she did because of spoilers just in case you want to read this to your child. Good book!

@Leslie-Loo - thank you!! My kids have read some of the Junie B Jones stories. They love how mischievous she can be. It's fun to witness (judge) someone else doing something wrong. :)
