Thank you, Jade and Ted. I have the opposite problem. I do not know if I trust the one who just hired me. I was told that "LinkedIn recommended me for ghostwriting." I was hired to write a presentation for a nonprofit event coming up. Before receiving the copy, they said, "The company decided to hire you for phase 2 and phase 3 and that will be for $$ total." By the end of the day, I got the check for all three presentations. My husband was shocked and believed it was fake. I am not sure, but I have already worked about 30 hours on this first presentation. I will not send it until the check clears, which will be at least a week earlier than I said I could do it. I only asked for half up front. Can I be taken by them?
