Branding Guidelines for Your AWAI Copywriting Training

Here at AWAI, we’re delighted you’re a member of our training programs and social groups — studying the craft of copywriting and content writing. We’re proud you’re part of our community and we celebrate your progress.

We encourage you to let the world know you’re part of AWAI.

That being said … here are some branding guidelines about how to promote your AWAI training that you may not be aware of.

1. The AWAI logo is a no-go for your marketing efforts.

It’s perfectly fine to say on your website and LinkedIn profile that you’ve studied or completed AWAI programs and you’re learning best practices from us — techniques proven to work.

However, using the AWAI logo in your marketing materials is not allowed.

Our logo and related graphics are our legally trademarked property.

We provide the world’s most effective and trusted copywriting training, but we don’t officially endorse AWAI members. We don’t track the success of every member, so it would be impossible to endorse everyone and allow use of our logo.

If you have been using the AWAI logo in your marketing materials, you’ll need to remove it.

Two exceptions:

  • If you’ve completed one of our certification programs and you’ve earned your AWAI Verified™ Specialist badge, you can post your badge in your marketing materials.
  • If you’ve completed a companion program or apprentice services and received a Certificate of Completion, you’re welcome to post that certificate in your marketing materials.

In both cases, you’re given specific graphics to use (not the AWAI logo by itself).

2. Unless you’re an AWAI employee, listing that you “work here” is not allowed.

From time to time we’ve noticed AWAI members listing on LinkedIn that they work for AWAI.

That implies they’re employed by AWAI (on the payroll as a staff member). Unless you truly are an AWAI employee on staff, it’s misleading and incorrect to list AWAI as an employer on your LinkedIn profile or anywhere else.

Anyone not on staff who lists us as an employer should adjust their LinkedIn profile.

What about listing AWAI as a freelance client on a website?

If you’ve been hired and paid by AWAI to write content or copy, then yes, by all means, list us as a client.

We hope this clarifies any confusion about your marketing materials and the use of AWAI-branded property.
