AWAI Is Expanding Its Web Design Team

American Writers & Artists, Inc. (AWAI) is looking for a Junior Web Designer to work with us in our Delray Beach headquarters on desktop and mobile projects. This is a full-time position with salary dependent on experience.

Since AWAI is a member-driven company, we will ask you to come up with ideas and strategies to improve our members’ experience with AWAI. You can’t be shy when it comes to generating ideas and sharing them with us. (This is the fun part of the job!)

Qualifications:

  • Able to write semantic HTML and modern CSS without visual aids such as Dreamweaver
  • Proficient with visual design (Color theory, typography, space, shape, alignment, etc.) and tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator
  • Working knowledge of Mobile-First Responsive Design, and Progressive Enhancement techniques
  • 1-3 years of equivalent experience creating and guiding visual content for the web as well as planning, designing and building websites and landing pages
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Skilled at communicating concepts, tasks, and ideas
  • Ability to respond resourcefully to new demands, priorities and challenges
  • A strong understanding of web-based marketing and readability
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (Wordpress, Drupal, etc.)
  • Javascript experience a plus

Your typical work day may involve:

  • Taking a copywriter’s sales letter and designing it into an online promo
  • Designing a banner ad to support our latest marketing campaign
  • Setting up a landing page to capture emails for our acquisition marketing
  • Creating graphics for use across our website and on our Social Media channels
  • Creating an order page for a product in our shopping cart system
