Make Friends and Connections at Bootcamp This Year

What will you be doing three months from now?

I know what I’ll be doing. I’ll be meeting new friends, renewing old friendships, and learning new ideas to power my copywriting. And I’m excited.

What’s happening in a shade under three months? AWAI’s 2013 FastTrack to Copywriting Success Bootcamp and Job Fair. This will be my 10th!

And I’d love to meet you there.

After all these years, why do I keep going back? That’s easy.

Even though I’ve been copywriting for almost 20 years, I always learn something at Bootcamp. Something? That sounds like I’m able to take away only one good tidbit each year. Hardly …

It isn’t true!

Like last year, for example. The Keynote Speaker was Brian Kurtz. You may not recognize his name. But I know you’ve heard of Boardroom and their $100+ million-a-year newsletter and book publishing empire. Brian is their Executive Vice President and the marketing genius behind Boardroom’s success.

I learned more from Brian’s presentation than I can possibly relate here. But stated briefly, Brian revealed his “deliverable and measurable business secrets.” His “deliverable and measurable marketing secrets.” And his “deliverable and measurable life secrets.” (The life secrets still resonate with me almost a year later.)

That was just the beginning. Master Copywriter Richard Armstrong taught us “How to Turn Failure into Success Using Parrondo’s Paradox.” Never heard of Parrondo’s Paradox? Neither had I. But its essence is that you can combine losing strategies into a master winning strategy. I wish I’d known about this when I was starting out!

Legendary copywriter Herschell Gordon Lewis told a packed ballroom about (among many things) how to replace ‘dead’ words with ‘live’ words. But Herschell’s draw is not only his winning copywriting strategies … and his 50+ years in the business. He’s funny, exciting, and entertaining.

But probably the most exciting presentation last year for me was Clayton Makepeace’s. He revealed to us the power of Video Sales Letters. How they can quadruple response. And how easy they are to produce.

Clayton returns again this year. And rest assured, his presentation will be chock-full of ways to boost your copywriting success.

And this list of new things I learned last year just barely covers it.

What I love most every year …

You can bet I look forward every year to taking away a hoard of new ideas … new strategies … and new secrets that will immediately bolster my copywriting.

But to be honest with you, these aren’t what excite me most about returning to Bootcamp every year. What does excite me most?

You! Every year at Bootcamp, I get to meet new friends. Friends who are just starting out. Friends who have been writing longer than I have. And everyone in between. I also get to place faces to names of the many Circle of Success friends I’ve gotten to know through the magic of online trainings. And …

 … I get to renew my face-to-face friendships with some of the hardest working, most dedicated people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting: The AWAI staff. All of them … Katie … Rebecca … Denise … Barb … Jackson … and many more. They’re all there to make the AWAI Bootcamp the most professional, productive, and invigorating three days of your life.

One place you won’t see me …

I try to see as much of Bootcamp as I can — when I’m not presenting or meeting with AWAI members. But there’s one place you won’t see me. This is one place you must go to when you’re at Bootcamp. The Job Fair.

I won’t be there because the Job Fair is for you. It’s strictly for AWAI members who are looking to make those valuable connections with top marketers in the industry. Marketers who are offering real work opportunities to AWAI members. It could be you!

Back by popular demand … and for the ‘first time ever’ …

This year’s Bootcamp marks the first-time appearance of Mark Ford … as Mark Ford. You may know him better as Michael Masterson.
